Crowdfunding
A great project deserves the right words.
How La Ruche integrated generative AI directly into their campaign creation flow to help project holders tell their story more clearly, in the right tone, in both languages, and give every project its best shot at getting funded.
The challenge
A great project doesn’t always come with a great pitch.
La Ruche is a Quebec-based crowdfunding platform built to support local entrepreneurs and community projects. The platform’s success depends on one thing: project holders being able to communicate their vision clearly enough to inspire strangers to contribute.
The problem is that writing is hard. Many entrepreneurs come to La Ruche with a strong idea and real conviction, but struggle to translate that into a compelling campaign description. Add to that the reality of operating in a bilingual market, and the barrier gets even higher. The result was inconsistent content quality across projects, with some campaigns failing not because the idea wasn’t good, but because the pitch didn’t land. There was no systematic support to help project holders over that writing barrier.
The solution
An AI writing assistant, built into the campaign creation flow.
Mirego worked in close collaboration with La Ruche’s team across design, technology, and implementation to integrate a generative AI writing assistant directly inside the project creation platform. No third-party tools, no copy-pasting into ChatGPT. The help is right there, where project holders need it.
The system uses GPT-3.5 Turbo via a dedicated API endpoint. It pulls all the structured form data already entered by the project holder and uses it as context, so the AI isn’t working from scratch. It knows what the project is about. Prompt engineering with carefully defined rules and a feedback loop ensures outputs stay relevant, coherent, and on-brand for La Ruche’s ecosystem.
The assistant offers two distinct modes. Text improvement enhances and sharpens what the project holder has already written, helping them turn rough notes into a polished campaign description. French translation generates a complete French version automatically, so project holders can reach both English and French-speaking audiences without writing the campaign twice or hiring a translator.
For the user, the experience is intentionally simple: a button-based interface with tone of voice selection. The complexity lives under the hood, the surface is frictionless.
The outcomes
Lowering the writing barrier, raising the quality of every campaign.
- Entrepreneurs with strong ideas but limited copywriting skills can now build complete, compelling campaign descriptions with minimal effort.
- The AI works from the project holder’s own data, producing relevant and personalized outputs rather than generic suggestions.
- Tone of voice selection gives each project holder agency over how their campaign sounds, from community-driven to business-forward.
- Built-in French translation means project holders can reach both English and French-speaking audiences without hiring a translator or writing the campaign twice.
- The feature is fully embedded in La Ruche’s existing creation flow, with no disruption to the platform experience.
- A feedback system built into the prompt layer ensures outputs improve over time and stay aligned with La Ruche’s content standards.
- End-to-end collaboration between Mirego and La Ruche’s team delivered a production-ready feature, from design to deployment.
