The power of experience: capturing 30 years of knowledge.
A global manufacturing company with decades of hard-won operational expertise deployed a knowledge capture application on Forra, turning expert interviews into searchable, structured records before that knowledge walked out the door.
The challenge
Decades of expertise, approaching a generational transition.
The company had spent 30 years building deep operational expertise, carried by experienced workers who knew every machine, every edge case, every workaround. With a wave of retirements approaching, the organization recognized the risk early. They had already started recording video interviews with senior experts, but the volume of footage quickly outgrew what anyone could manually transcribe, organize, or make accessible. The knowledge was being captured. It just couldn’t scale fast enough.
The solution
A knowledge capture application, built on Forra.
The team deployed a knowledge capture application on Forra that processes video and audio interview recordings automatically. Files go through segmentation and speaker diarization to identify who is talking at each moment. AWS Transcribe and OpenAI Whisper are used in combination for best accuracy across French and English content. Because Forra handles the infrastructure, the application was operational in weeks, not months.
Each transcript is automatically annotated and structured by topic. The knowledge is stored in shared memory and searchable by any authorized team member. New hires can query years of expert interviews directly, building on the foundation the organization’s veterans established.
The outcomes
Measurable results from day one.
- Expert interviews processed and searchable in under 15 minutes, down from days of manual transcription.
- Speaker identification across multiple voices per session, with annotated transcripts ready for review.
- Thirty years of operational knowledge preserved and made searchable within the first months of deployment.
- Zero knowledge lost to employee transitions since the application went live.
